So What Are Anxiety Attacks... EXACTLY?
Well, the definition of anxiety is the state of fear from the anticipation of a real or imagined threat, event
or situation. And don't be surprised... anxiety is one of the most common emotions experienced by folks at any
point of their lives.
But what separates you from most folks is this... most people don't experience a panic attack or an anxiety
attack. And that is why most folks don't realize the depth of the terrifying fears from the experience. You know...
extreme dizziness... blurred vision... tingling... shortness of breath... and many more symptoms.
But even if you do have panic attacks or anxiety attacks... you may not understand why it is happening and
misinterpret the symptoms as an illness or serious mental condition. But I hasten to say this... what you are

fight or flight response is useful when we have to respond to a real threat within a split second.
But let's be clear on this... anxiety is a built-in mechanism that is supposed to protect us from harm... not be
harmful to us. Your body's primary goal is to keep you alive and well.
Try this... hold your breath as long as you can... but you'll find that no matter how much will power you
have... eventually, your body will override it. My point is this... no matter how much or how hard you try to
convince yourself that you are going to die during a panic attack... your body is going to override that fear and
come back to a state of equilibrium. Listen to this... there has never been a reported case of someone dying from a
panic attack!
So remember this next time you have a panic attack... you will not be harmed. It is just your mind creating the
sensations that you feel all over your body. But eventually, your body always returns to the balanceed state.
In short... our body isn't worried about the panic attacks. It knows that eventually, everything goes back to
normal. However, our minds... Oh! It is shrieking in terror and over-reaction. We tend to fear the worst and
exaggerate our body's responses. In even simpler terms... our body temporarily changed due to poor information.
One function of the fight or flight mechanism in our bodies is our blood. For instance... in preparation for a
physical attack, our blood drains from the skin, fingers and toes so less blood is loss during contact... and this
blood is moved to flush the muscle in the legs and arms to help our bodies either fight or run away from
danger!
And this is why many panic attack sufferers feel tingling and numbness during anxiety attacks. It can be
misdiagnosed as an heart attack. But still, if you are worried about that... you should visit your family doctor
and have it checked out to put your mind at ease.

The real issue here is we are more afraid of losing control of our body... but you really are not losing control
of it. What you should do is learn how to deal with the moment and defuse the panic attack along with the
underlying anxiety that sparked the initial anxiety in the first place.

that...
