How You Can Handle Head & Neck Pain
If you have been suffering from head & neck pain for a while... it could be caused by headaches.
However, if you have neck pains... it is always a good idea to consult with your medical doctor about it.
Now neck pains can be a little tricky. And understand that I'm speaking as someone interested in relief... I'm
not a professional or a doctor. But I do know from my research that if you are suffering from neck pain... you
SHOULD see your doctor!
You see, the neck pain you have might be caused by injury to the muscle or soft tissue from an accident... such
as a car accident or a fall. And many times, the neck injury can lead to headaches. On the other hand... headaches
can cause neck pains. So it is a little tricky to figure this out on your own. Another good reason for seeing your
doctor is spine injuries. You definitely want to make sure that your spine is OK.
And your doctor will diagnose exactly what is the cause of your head & neck pain and suggest treatment for
it. It can be anything from medication, manipulation, surgery and even a combination of these.
However, if it is determined that you DON'T have an injury... well this is great news! But it calls up a whole
differnt range of possible causes for your neck pain. And the most common reason would be that your muscles are too
tensed due to stress. Think about it this way... your neck is holding up your head all day long. And to make it
harder... you tense up your neck due to stress...
And presto! Head & neck pain!
Oh yeah, women also experience migrain neck pain due to their bra straps... so if this is you... it is something
you should keep in mind.
So if your muscles are too tensed... it is important that you learn how to manage and take care of your neck.
Stetching your muscles is a very good way to relieve the tension. You can take in a couple of yoga or stretching
classes. Alternatively, you can get a couple of videos if you prefer to do this in the privacy of your home.
The key thing here of course is to learn how to relax your muscle... especially your neck muscle!
The next idea is to make sure you sleep well each night. And the best ways I can think of is to make sure you
have a very good supportive bed as well as good pillows to support your neck. Because obviously, during the typical
8 hours you sleep each night, you can cause neck pain due to sleeping improperly.
The last thing I wanted to mention for your head and neck pain is trying out massage therapy if you haven't
tried it out yet. I've had it and many other too... and many folks swear by it. So shoot for regular massages.
However, if you are on a limited budget... you may want to try stopping by a local massage therapy school.
There, the students will perform massages at much lower rates. Here's another idea! Try the chair massages. The
duration is shorter but it is less expensive.
I wish you all the luck in eliminating your head & neck pain...
Kate :)
