Try these Herbal Remedies to Help Relieve Headaches Caused by Stress
I remember my Grandmother having a pharmacy… in her backyard! It was her herb garden and believe me, she was an expert in home remedies…
And I remember everybody in the family would head over to Grandmother’s house when they had a headache because they knew that she would “fix ‘em up just like new!”
Nowadays, I think more and more of us are eschewing over the counter drugs in favor of the natural home remedies. And why not? If the natural cures worked well for your ancestors… it should be good for you! Except for the blood sucking leeches of course… (Yikes!)
However, for many of us who live in the city or in colder regions… it may not be feasible to have a herb garden in the backyard. So what to do? Well, we can go to the local health food store!
So I listed 5 of the most popular herbs that you can use:
- Echinacea – This is a herb that Native Americans used to help relieve flu and cold like symptoms. In fact, this herb is a common ingredient for commercial cough drops! However, you will get more bang if you got the herb instead of cough drops.
- Ginkgo and Ginkgo Biloba – The Ginkgo plant has been around for a very long time. I think they were around during the times of the Dinosaurs. Perhaps that is why the Dinosaurs lived for over 150 million years? Anyway, this herb helps improve your brain function and memory. It also helps improve the circulation in your body. But you should be careful about the quality and quantity of this herb if you want to try it to see if it helps.
- St. John’s Wort – This herb was very little known until it was tried as an alternative to anti-depressant medications. The best thing about this herb is that you can try it and see if it works for you because it is readily available without a prescription. However, critics in the medical profession say St. John’s Wort is unpredictable.
- Chamomile - This is one of my most favorite herbal tea leaves. It helps me relax and reduces my anxiety. I also hear that it can be tried as a remedy for insomnia.
- Ginseng – Now this is a very old herb that has been in use inside of ancient China for 1000s of years. Ginseng is considered an adaptogen which is a substance that helps alleviate physical and mental strain so the body can return to normal levels. This herb is typically recommended by herbalists everywhere for fatique and stress…
These herbs are readily available at your local herbal and health stores. You can try them and see if they help alleviate your symptoms. Sometimes it can be better to use natural alternatives to fight off the effects caused by stress.
