Discover Some of the Ways to Manage Stress In Your Life

You will notice that I talk a lot about stress and that is because I believe stress is one of the leading indicators for anxiety attacks and panic attacks.

Truth be told, if you don’t learn how to manage your stress, your stress will find a way to manage and control YOUR life. And too much stress is a lot on your plate in your busy life! So quit handing over the keys to your stress to drive your life astray and find out how to become the driver in your life.

No matter who seems to be at fault for your stress, the net result is YOU are suffering from it. Not your boss, not your car mechanic and definitely not your spouse. You should know by now that you cannot control what others think or say about you. But you can manage the smaller irritations in your private world to reduce your stress level so it is manageable.

So here are some stress indicators that you can learn how to control to keep it from controlling you:

Clutter – you know what I mean here. Many of us seem to have lots of stuff just lying around and this pile of stuff gets bigger and bigger. And it takes more and more time to manage all that stuff. My suggestion is to find someway to eliminate some of that stuff that you find you don’t really need. You may be surprised how well you can get on without it.

The next step is how to tackle a big pile of clutter around the house. I would just tackle one room at a time. Take a look at one room, and take a CRITICAL look! LOL!

And figure out how much time it will take to clean each room up. Start off easy by trying to decide which two clutter items in each room that you really don’t need and either throw it away or give it away. And don’t try to do everything at once! The idea here is slow and deliberate. Not fast and angst ridden… really.

How about doing this once a month?

The next thing to manage your clutter is to… stop buying so much stuff. I’m not going to make fun of you but obviously, all that clutter that is stressing you out didn’t walk into your house by themselves. You brought them in… so don’t bring in any more.

So when you are out shopping, think for a moment before you buy it. “How often will I be using this wok or 26 piece baking set?” Maybe you already have something at home that can do the job?

Don’t try to compare your house with the magazine perfect homes! Unless of course, you can afford a full-time housekeeper. So just try to do what you can to keep things tidy but don’t go all out to be anal about it. It is way too stressful!

Is your closet a clothing hamper? I admit it is very easy for a girl to become addicted to buying clothes to make her feel good about herself. But the truth of the matter is, all that extra clothing can get way out of control and add much to the clutter around the house. And besides, having all those extra clothing means you have to do more washing, mending, pressing or even take to the dry cleaners.

Lots of extra work. And many times, too much extra work can really add to your stress level!

Other problems of having too much clothing – it is harder to decide what to wear and it takes longer to get dressed for work in the morning. You could “lose” your favorite shoes for instance because you have so much stuff in the closet. And this is just a waste of your extra time and energy and it sure does add to your stress level.

So trim the number of clothes you have in the closet. If you have a fashionable friend, why don’t you ask your friend to help you sort out which clothes to keep?

All in all, I hope some of the ideas that I have given out in this post can help you manage your stress in dealing with clutter in the home. In fact, you can apply this to your extra stuff at your office too.

Good luck and I’ll talk to you soon,

Kate :)

Hi guys… yeah! We may not realize it but clutter around the house does add to our stress levels… especially if we grew up in a house that was clean and tidy…
