5 More Ways to Reduce Stress from the American Heart Association
This post is the 2nd part of how to fight stress with healthier habits. If you haven’t read the first part, you can go here:
5 Ways to Reduce Stress from the American Heart Association
So I’m going to tell you the last five ways that the American Heart Association say that can reduce your stress levels.
6) Slow down and smell the roses. Seriously, just slow down and don’t feel like you have to continue the franatic pace that most folks do. I used to be like this when I lived in a large city. But when I moved to a small town, I found myself slowing down… A LOT! And the reason for it was this… I was doing what everyone else was doing. In a large city, everybody is in a hurry. To get to work. To get home. And what happens when you hurry to get home? Most of the time, I just plopped onto the sofa and watched TV for 5-6 hours straight until it was time to turn in for the night.
I mean that is simply ridiculous! Hurry home to watch the TV… well, I donated my TV when I moved to a small town. And everyone drives slow. Everyone takes time to complete a conversation and inquire about you or talk about something. It is a lost art, and I love it.
So slow down and smell the roses. Get to know others and you might want to consider not watching or limiting your TV viewing times.
7) More sleep! Lots of us don’t get enough sleep so we wake up with residual stress from the previous days. I truly think not watching TV helped me a lot to get more sleep. Now, I just do something calming and relaxing to help me get prepared for sleep such as reading a great fiction book. Sometimes, reading a how-to or a self-improvement book is good too!
Organize your life more. I know this advice seems redundant because we have all these high tech toys to keep track of our times. But they don’t really help much to organize our life. In fact, most high tech toys are time wasters. So try to organize our office, homes and car a little each day. You could start off with just one small area each time. Like for instance, try to tidy up one room each day. The bathroom, the kitchen and so on. But if you are pushed for time, you could just attack one drawer, one cabinet or the refrigerator at a time.
9) Volunteer your time. Become a little more proactive and help out those who need the help. It can be your favorite charity to returning a favor to a good friend. You see, helping out others, helps reduce your stress by making you feel more appreciated and admired.
10) Stop worrying! Most of us worry about something that hasn’t or will never happen. It is just a form of survival mechanism but it is not helping us at all. You can learn how to reduce your anxiety levels with Panic Away from Barry Joe McDonagh. It is very effective and can help you learn how to control your panic attacks and anxiety attacks permanently and… quickly.
Talk to you later,
Kate
