Uncommon Phobias List (twenty-one to twenty five)
This is the 5th and last blog post in the series explaining the more unusual and uncommon phobias. But like before… those who suffer from these types of phobias believe what they have is real… no matter how unusual the phobia appears to you!
If someone you know has one of these phobias… it is a time for understanding and compassion.
However, I always suggest that anyone who has a specific phobia to see their family doctor for consultation and proper diagnosis. At this time… you are really on the way to recover.
And why? Well, most folks who suffer from anxiety disorders, phobias and fears keep their affliction to themselves. Never telling anyone who can help them that they have all these fears.
But once you DO tell your doctor… you will start getting the help… the right help.
To be continued… the final five list of uncommon phobias:
- Linonophobia is the irrational fear of strings. The fear of weaving.
- Arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth.
- Epistaxiophobia is the irrational, abnormal fear of nosebleeds. People have actually died from nosebleeds. Attila the Hun was one of the more infamous ones. They say he got drunk and choked to death because of a nosebleed during the night.
- Phobophobia is the fear of fears. That’s right… a phobia that is the fear of getting a phobia. It is related to anxiety attacks and panic attacks. And like many readers of my blog knows… I recommend that you check out Panic Away by Barry Joe McDonagh. You can read more about that panic and anxiety attack program on the home page of my website.
- Counterphobia is the preference of fearful situations. I suspect the folks who suffer from this specific fear keep objects of fear around them to cope with internal anxiety.
OK. You now got all twenty five of the most unusual and uncommon phobias that I could find. And as I always mention, please seek help if you DO in fact are suffering from depressions, phobias, fears, anxiety disorders, or panic attacks.
There is no need to suffer from the symptoms… and besides… once you do control them… you will notice that the quality of your life is so much better!!
warmly,
Kate
