I know someone with a phobia of a texture. Seeing things with this texture, in her words, make her ill. It is tempting to make fun of it, but it really isn't funny when it happens. She says its a fear of shag carpet, but really it is anything with a stringy texture that makes her sick. She is a pretty mentally tough person until something stringy like shag carpet comes along. I would be very curious to know where something like that would come from.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your comment... and surprisingly... there are many phobias that someone DOES suffer from...

I came up with this list of uncommon phobias while doing research on the Internet.

But the truth of the matter is this... many folks who suffer from anxiety disorders, phobias or some other disorder... don't seek help.

I think it is because they are afraid to be embarrassed. Or humiliated... but I think that mindset is keeping them from finding a way to stop the symptoms.

So again, I strongly urge any reader to seek professional help...

Later,

Kate :)

A Fear of infinity??? Like you mean the people fear thinking about where the universe ends...or IF it ends for that matter? I can't even imagine how someone would develop a phobia of that. What does it represent? It seems too generic to even have an impact.

All of the other phobias make sense but I can't get my head around that one.

In any event, this definitely got me thinking :)
