Uncommon Phobias List (six to ten)
This is my second installment of the next five uncommon phobias… and like I said in the first post… just because the phobia is uncommon doesn’t mean it is a punch line.
Those who suffer from these phobias really feel the terror… it feels real enough to them and to me, laughing at the condition is just plain mean…
My hopes for listing these uncommon phobias is to urge the sufferers to seek help. Because the moment you DO start doing it… you are on the road to recovery.
I suggest that you check with your doctor first to make sure your symptoms isn’t being caused by more serious underlying conditions that “mimics” the symptoms of anxiety disorders or panic attacks.
And then you may want to see what Panic Away is all about… and you can find out a little more about it on my home page.
Here is the next list of uncommon phobias (6 – 10)
- Chorophobia – is the irrational fear of dancing. But I think it is all part and parcel of social phobia… the fear of getting embarrassed or judged by others.
- Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia – you wouldn’t believe it if I told you, but this phobia is the fear of long words… and this particular word is derived as “hippo” which is loosely meaning big… as in river horse.
- Pentheraphobia – is the fear of the mother-in-law. Lots of folks have some anxiety of their spouse’s parents I’m sure… but having Pentheraphobia means you are showing a full spectrum of symptoms associated with anxiety and panic attacks.
- Chrometophobia – is the fear of money. Quite frankly, I read that the majority of $20 bills USD have traces of cocaine on it. And besides… paper currency is made of fibers and picks up a lot of dirt so I wouldn’t be surprised some folks have a fear of touching money…
- Nomatophobia – also called, onomatophobia. It is the fear of names or the meaning of the words.
OK… I covered the 2nd batch of uncommon phobias in this post. I’ll have some more for you next week…
Until then, talk soon,
Kate
