Panic Attacks are NOT Dangerous!
I read a very interesting article from the British newspaper, The Guardian about panic attacks.
First of all, I agree with what they say… that if you ever had a panic attack, it won’t harm you… even though it is frightening to you and your feelings. And they usually go away after a few minutes or so.
My point here is that panic attacks are NOT dangerous to your health! It is just your body simulating a response to an imagined danger. You may feel that the end of the world is here… your heart may feel it is pounding like an African drum… you may have difficulties breathing… and you may feel yourself getting dizzy… and your fingers and toes may be shaking.
But it is not-real! To you yes… but there was no danger!

There never was any danger nearby to cause your body to respond in this way… but as you get deeper in the abyss of panic and anxiety attacks… you will start to worry and fear getting ANOTHER panic attack.
All this worrying leads to what medical doctors would term as panic disorder. And yes, there are treatments. You should go to your medical doctor first to get a diagnosis before doing anything else.
Because you will never know if your symptoms isn’t one of a more severe and life threatening condition such as real heart attacks or something else. So be sure and talk to your doctor.
And if your doctor decides that yes, you do have a panic disorder, he may prescribe some medication or try to get you to schedule some therapy with an expert.
But my experience and from what I read from the testimonials of the Panic Away site, it seems that medication and therapy just alleviates your symptoms. What it means is this is just temporary. If you stop taking your prescription or stop seeing your therapist, your anxiety and panic attacks will come back!
Truth be told, I discovered this the hard way… until I was turned to Panic Away by Barry Joe McDonagh. This self-help book completely changed my life for the better. I am now able to live my normal life without any fear of another panic attack or anxiety attacks. And I cured myself using Joe’s advanced pychological methods within a couple of days.
Yes, you read this right. I cured myself in two days! And this is why I created this blog to get the word out there that you don’t have to needlessly suffer from your panic disorder because there is help out there that will stop it cold.
Go here to read what I’m talking about – Panic Away. Be sure to read some of the many testimonials from grateful folks who used the book to cure themselves.

I have the article re. panic attacks. However, my worst symptom is a feeling of choking which is particularly bad when I try to eat something and no mention is made of this. This feeling, together with a dry mouth can sometimes last for hours at a time and comes on unbidden but does not form part of an actual panic attack. I saw an an ear nose and thorat consultant two years ago who put a camera down my throat and could find nothing untoward but the feeling still persists. I can find no answer or relief to my problem at all and cannot see how this can be related to panic disorder. I am also a very busy person who does not sit and brood -I have a very full life with a lovely husband and two grown up children and a very good mum and dad but I just cannot get better and I do not know if there is anyone in this world who can help me.

The sensation of choking is one of the symptoms of panic attacks. But I’m glad you saw a specialist that ruled out anything more serious. My suggestion would be to try Panic Away and see if it helps you. You have 60 days to try it out and get your money back if it doesn’t work for you. Not only that, you can also email the author, Barry Joe McDonagh and ask him about it…
I wish you well,
Kate

I fear the symptoms that I may make a scene of not natural sudden yelling in front of them or a movement that is abnormal

While panic attacks are not dangerous and you won’t die from them they disrupt your life so much it is kind of a death. I’ve been dealing with them for forty years. For how much my panic and fear and anxiety and agoraphobia I might as well be gone. The loss in my life cannot be measured. The lost vacatons, dinners with friends, flying….you get the picture. Panic attacts not dangerous, they ruin your life, I think thats dangerous

I do not agree with your assumption that you cannot die from a panic attack. You can have a panic attack bad enough and often enough that your heart gives out. The biggest problem I have in an attack is breathing but I’m also worried about my heart and what it’s doing because my family history has heart problems. Panic attacks also stop me from fully enjoying life because they put a limit on the things that I do, especially for fun.

Hi Laura!
First of all, I am really sorry to hear about your panic attack symptoms. And it really does sound that your underlying conditions are pretty serious. So I hope you did see your family doctor…
Having said that, my understanding is that panic attacks by itself isn’t dangerous… it is just your body overreacting to stress… and many symptoms of panic attacks mimic more serious underlying medical conditions.
And it does sound like you do in fact have some possible serious medical conditions because of your family history.
I’m sure someone with medical knowledge would say that panic attacks could exacerbate your potential heart conditions. This is why you should get yourself check out if you haven’t done it yet… and then review your options how to deal with your panic symptoms.
Good luck and god bless,
Kate

Dear Kate,
I had a panic attack on a train on my way to an exam about 29 years ago and I have never been the same since. You seem never to forget that feeling. You seem to remember the physical and mental symptoms vividly.
But my main problem is at times I am unable to focus on anything, I am unable to think of anthing in particular. My mind is jumping up and down, side to side and your almost unaware of whats going on around you.
My thoughts are racing but I am not concious of what they are.
These are just a few examples of my suffering.
Regards
Sxxxxx

Hi Kate, i had a panic attack shortly after my daughter was born and i havn’t been the same since. My daughter is almost 2 and a half years old now. After the first one, i somehow over come them but can’t remember how. But at new years day this year when i was in work, i burst out in a horrific panic attack and ahd to be sent home. It is now April and i cant seem to relax at all, i feel 100% safe and secure around my fiance, btu as soon as he goes to work in a morning, i get horrible feelings in my stomach and my thoughts are always ” oh my god, if i have a panic attack now and pass out, Scarlett (my daughter) will be on her own and anything could happen to her and she is too young to phone for an ambulance ” and tjis leaves me feeling awful and going round to friends houses durig the day so i am not alone. I have been to see my GP, and she has put me on an antidepressant and they seem to be helping a little but dont want to depend on these tablets as i hav heard stories of them becoming addictive. I also got prescribes diasipam, but i have ony taken 2 as when i went to the chemoist to buy them, i asked the lady behind the counter are they addicitb=ve and straight away her answer was ” yes ” so i dont touch them.
I want to be a strong person for my fiance, Scarlett and myself but cant find the right road to go down. I have been refered to the mental health team but for an assesment, it is going to take upto 5-6 weeks. I feel like i am walking on egg shells and i want to be a strong mum for Scarlett, no this anxious mum who is afraid to go outsid eincase i have a panic attack and embarass myself in public.
Please could i have some advice please?
Thankyou
Bev x

Hi Bev,
Yes… please get the Panic Away program that I recommend on this site… it is a self help program that you can download right away and start using. It can be a little pricey for some folks… but look at it this way… it is way cheaper and faster to “train” yourself how to eliminate the fear of getting another panic attack.
And of course you should be skeptical… nothing can be that easy and that good. And this is why I encourage my visitors to go to the Panic Away site and check out all the testimonials of more-than-happy users who figured it all out… and can’t say enough good things about the program.
If you decide to try it out… there is a very good guarantee that let’s you get a full refund within 60 days.
Good luck and god bless,
Kate

Hi Kate have been reading all the comments that have been written about panic attacks. I expect you have noticed that everyone has the same or similar symptons, and everyone is still alive to tell their tales. Many years ago, in my late twenty I had post-natal depression. Not much help from my ex-husband. It went on for 10 years.I was on tablets for depression and sleeping tablets. all that time. when i eventually came off them I vowed that I would never never take any more if I ever became that way again. Now years on I had a spate of panic attacks, which I had never had before. 18 months after my son emigrated to Canada. And then more recent, 18 months after had breast cancer.Still have them, and other things beside. cant go into a crowded room, feel shaky, trembely.and other stupid things as well. The reason why these panic attacks are a problem, is the rush of adrenalin which has no where to go.
We all need adrenelin when we are in danger, but when it gets out of hand thats when the problems arise..panic panic!! I might add I quite agree with tranqulisers are not the answer,Its just double trouble.I have never taken any since all those years ago. What I do take is Bach’s Rescue Remedy. This really excellent. also Kalms. These are also helpful. I hope this is of some help to all those who have these problems. Try to stay strong and determined not to let it beat you. All the best. Elizabeth
