Overcoming Anxiety and Panic Attacks Part 2
In the first post about overcoming anxiety and panic attacks, I talked about why those who have this condition never seek help. They experienced frustration and disbelieve in others after tell them about it. And boy, nobody likes to be thought of as crazy…
And that is so sad and wrong!!
Here’s another thing about avoiding and covering up your condition from the prying eyes and judgment of others… the effort that you make to “hide” your panic attacks… actually can make the panic attacks happen!!
Because panic attacks is really the fear of getting another panic attack!
And hide this condition we do because not only we are afraid of being ridiculed… it might have consequences on our careers if we are judged as inferior or unreliable.
Another thing about having panic or anxiety attacks is they can be expensive to seek treatment or relief. Sometimes it can get too hard to “hide” our conditions from others so we seek medical help. Which usually comes in the form of large prescription or therapy bills. Or even the visits to the emergency rooms!
And not only that, you may call in sick when your symptoms are really bad which means you earn less money. And with less pay, your bills can become harder and harder to pay off. Which leads to more anxiety and more stress. And those factors can make your panic attack disorders even worse.
So now what? Well, confiding to family members and close friends don’t seem to be helpful, you did seek help from the medical establishment and haven’t really improved your conditions. Where do you go from here you are thinking? Is there any other sources of help that I haven’t tried yet to help me overcome anxiety and panic attacks?
Well, that will be covered in my next blog post.
warmly,
Kate
