October 10th is World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day was put aside to mobilize the international resources that is available to the world to help combat mental health disorders.

And not only that, I think it is a good idea to have a World Mental Health Day to increase awareness of the sufferers of anxiety disorders and panic attacks to seek help or those who know about someone that has symptoms and can encourage them to seek help.

In fact, the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon recently stated that this day was important because mental disorders is one of the biggest disability in developing countries than any other non-communicable diseases… and yet, only a very small minority of people from these countries ever get treatment.

Just wow!

And you know what? There are effective treatments for most mental disorders… yet these treatments are widely unavailable around the world.

I’m hoping that as the citizens of many countries all around the world becomes more aware of mental disorders and the help they can get to overcome their conditions and symptoms… the better off we will all be.

warmly,

Kate :)
