Man’s Broken Neck Misdiagnosed as Severe Headaches
You know… in many of my blog posts… I always caution my readers to seek experienced medical care to be certain of a diagnosis.
And then we see headlines like this one…
Man’s Broken Neck Misdiagnosed as Severe Headache
It is pretty scary… and you can click the link above to see the article (if it is still posted on Fox network site).
But the point is this… although mistakes are made sometimes… an informed medical opinion of your doctor is much better than arriving at a conclusion by yourself.
So whether you have anxiety attacks, panic attacks or a type of headaches… be aware that your symptoms can be confused for many different medical conditions.
And sure… doctors are NOT infallable!!
Such as what just happened here. A man went to the hospital complaining of a headache and was sent home with some headache pain reliever. And after a couple of more days of incredible pain, he went back and the hospital discovered that he had a broken neck!
This is scary!
But the article did leave out some important details such as what the man must have done to get the headache… he probably fell and hit his head.
But you have to use some common sense here. If you are getting constant headaches or anxiety and panic attack symptoms… you should write it down. How often you get them? What lead to the symptoms? And so on…
This information can be very helpful to your doctor when you see him/her.
But to avoid misdiagnosis… sometimes you have to be a little proactive and take notes. And it helps to pay attention to the doctor…
Because a doctor isn’t a black box though many people treat them like one. Whatever they say is just “magic!” You need to know what is going on… what your options are… and what you are supposed to do to treat it and what you are supposed to do as a follow up if the treatment doesn’t work.
Most people just leave it to the doctor (like this guy did) and needlessly suffered more pain.
So I am going to amend my message… you should always see your doctor if you are having anxiety symptoms, panic attack symptoms or constant severe headaches.
But you should also use some common sense and tell them HOW it happened! What happened! And write it down…
