Identifying Whether or Not You Have a Migraines Headaches
We all know that there are different types of headaches. But if you are experiencing a recurring painful headache that hurts so much, that it can debilitate you… well, you could be suffering from a migraines headaches.
Let me assure you that there are symptoms that are usually identified with migraines instead of another type of headache. My suggestion is to start keeping a notebook of your symptoms to track patterns and other clues that may be helpful to the diagnosis and relief from the headaches.
Now the first thing you should keep in mind that those who do suffer from migraines headaches, report a early warning sign that is called an “aura.” The best way to describe it would be to imagine that someone flashed a light bulb from a camera in your eyes and you see “spots.”
Like I said, many migraine sufferers report the aura at the beginning of their migraines. And that symptom can last for a few minutes to even an hour. It is hard to miss but you do have to look out for it. Don’t forget to write everything down in your notebook!
Another identifying trait of migraines headaches is the location of the pain. It is usually on one side of the head and can appear about thirty minutes after you see an “aura.”
This initial pain can bring about nausea and even vomiting. And makes you feel like you rather just lie down in a dark and quiet room to wait it out. However, it is very hard to sleep when you have migraines headaches because of the pain.
I also want you to know that over the counter medication isn’t very effective against the migraines headaches. And the reason being is because these types of headaches is the result of your blood vessels dilating and contracting inside your head. And common headache pain relievers such as aspirins isn’t strong enough to stop the process that is causing the horrible pain in your head.
But of course there is good news. There IS effective treatment for migraines headaches! You need to contact your family doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. This is where your notebook can come in handy. So don’t forget to write down your symptoms and times and every little detail that you can think of that can help your doctor. Your doctor may also pinpoint the exact trigger for your migraines headaches so you can reduce the number of those headaches as much as possible.
By now you should be aware of the fact that having migraines headaches means you cannot solve the problem by yourself. The pain doesn’t just “go away.” You need to be more active and the ONLY way is to see your doctor. Be sure to write down everything beforehand… because it may help him out alot.
A detailed notebook is like helping your doctor… help you!
And you may need to write down the kinds of foods that you ate up to twenty four hours before you started to experience your migraines headaches. Because foods are known to trigger those types of headaches.
So to sum it up… migraines headaches are painful. They can be identifiable. And you need help from your doctor for relief.
Good luck and god bless,
Kate
