Panic Anxiety Disorder Doesn’t Have to Rule Your Life Anymore – Part 2

In the previous blog post about panic attacks, I described a typical story of someone suffering from a panic attack and being told in the emergency room that there is nothing wrong with them and it is “all in their heads.”

And yes, the emergency doctor is correct about panic attacks. You are never in danger and the fears of getting another panic attack or anxieties do come from your head. But boy, talk about lousy bedside manners! :(

But now I’m moving on to the second part. So you tried the medication the doctor prescribed to you to control the symptoms of anxieties and panics. But like most strong medication, your body reacts to it in different ways. For some folks, it could be making you drowsy or like a “zombie” all the time.

And to tell you the truth, you probably made some decision that you don’t want to feel like this for the rest of your life. Taking medication really sucks. What you really want is to find some kind of treatment for your anxiety disorders that is the right kind. The kind that will fix everything so you can get back to living your life again.

So now, you know EXACTLY what you are looking for. And your search landing you on my panic attack blog. You will find that of all the treatments available, I recommend that you check out Panic Away by Barry Joe McDonagh. You see, Barry understand how you feel… because he used to be a sufferer of panic attacks too!

And he figured out a way to use advanced psychology (but made simple for you and me) to re-wire your thinking. Panic Away also tells you why you are feeling the way you do. What this inexpensive program won’t do is tell you that it is all in your head and toss you a quick fix solution (which doesn’t work).

You will be using the proven techniques (you need to read, listen and see the testimonials on the Panic Away website), you will finally end the vicious cycle of anxities and panics that you have been experiencing. And you can look forward to a panic free future. Now Panic Away isn’t going to give you some crap like wishing away your attacks and things will get better.

And no, you won’t be chanting nonsense either. There is nothing “magic” about the techniques taught by Panic Away. It gives you the effective tools to help yourself… to open the door and toss out your fears outside where they belong and close the door on them.

warmly,

Kate :)

Panic Anxiety Disorder Doesn’t Have to Rule Your Life Anymore – Part 1

Let’s suppose that you are getting ready to be with your friends on a much talked about and planned about cruise to the Bahamas (which by the way is a great idea when it is cold in the winter!). However, a couple of hours before the ship leaves the dock, you start having some trouble breathing. And then your stomach starts to cramp and you feel miserable. You may even feel like you are going to pass out.

Of course you are concerned, so you make a bee line to the emergency room. And once there, the attending physician tells you that there is nothing wrong with you! Or they made it sound like you are just “making things up” inside your head.

So now you really do feel bad about what just happened. Confused and frustrated because you just know something happened and you were not making it up. And to top that off, you also are getting a very large hospital bill. And to make things even worst, your cruise ship left the dock without you.

Like really sucks now… and this wasn’t the first time something like this happened to you. It is more likely you just suffered from panic anxiety disorder but you are probably thinking this is a condition that you will have to cope with for the rest of your life.

And you start to dread the coming months, days and hours until your next anxiety and panic attacks. You are not too sure what to do. Your doctor prescribed some medication for you and you tried them all.

to be continued in the next blog post…

warmly,

Kate :)

Deborah Gibson Panic and Anxiety Attack Story

In 2008, Deborah Gibson wrote a testimonial in the Sharing Miracles site about her struggles with anxiety attacks. It started when she was very young… then again, for those of you who don’t know who I am talking about… I’m talking about Debbie Gibson who was a teen pop icon in the late 1980s to early 1990s.

It started as anxieties…. that progressed to an mild anxiety attack. She described her first attack as just a “dizzy spell.” But it continued for 3 more years and there was an feeling of being out-of-body experience that never went away.

Eventually, her anxiety attacks bloomed into a full blown panic attack because panic attacks is the manifestation fear of getting another panic attack. At that point, Deborah started seeking help.

Marijuana Causes Panic Attacks and Anxiety Disorders?

Here is an interesting article from the UC Irvine website… they start off by saying that some college students looking for relief from the demands, anxieties and pressure of college life seek marijuana as a way to relax.

Well, since I’m anti illegal drugs… I have to disagree on that! I think there are many other ways that  you can regulate and bullet proof yourself to hurdle over any mental and physical walls…

Such as eating proper foods and exercising regularly… and constantly trying to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem by reading excellent and well-researched self help books.

But hey… it is your body and your life… here’s another reason why you should rethink about take another toke on a marijuana stick… not only do the authorities frown on partaking of illegal substances… the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) reports that marijuana use may cause anxiety and panic attacks!

Uncommon Phobias List (twenty-one to twenty five)

This is the 5th and last blog post in the series explaining the more unusual and uncommon phobias. But like before… those who suffer from these types of phobias believe what they have is real… no matter how unusual the phobia appears to you!

If someone you know has one of these phobias… it is a time for understanding and compassion.

However, I always suggest that anyone who has a specific phobia to see their family doctor for consultation and proper diagnosis. At this time… you are really on the way to recover.

And why? Well, most folks who suffer from anxiety disorders, phobias and fears keep their affliction to themselves. Never telling anyone who can help them that they have all these fears.

But once you DO tell your doctor… you will start getting the help… the right help.

To be continued… the final five list of uncommon phobias:

Uncommon Phobias List (sixteen to twenty)

This is the 4th blog post in a series… I will talk about the next five uncommon phobias… and like before… just because some phobia is pretty uncommon… doesn’t necessarily mean it is something to make fun of.

The person that is suffering from the symptoms of that anxiety or phobia… feels it is real. So again, please use discretion and understanding…

If you are suffering from one of these uncommon phobias, I firmly suggest that you first consult with your family doctor to rule out any more serious underlying health concerns. And from that point on… after being diagnosed with either, panic attacks, anxiety disorders or phobias… you can then take steps to eliminate them from your life.

What to do if You have Panic Attacks in College

I just read an interesting article on The Ranger site from the San Antonio College in Texas.

They interviewed a nurse about treating panic attacks… and she pretty much said everything that I have been saying on this website and blog.

That anxiety is the body’s response to stress… and the stress can become excessive and uncontrolled… which can become panic attacks or anxiety disorders.

But the main thing about panic attacks… if you are undergoing one… is to remain calm. There is no need to call 911 because you are not in danger… and that makes sense to me… because we do want our medical professionals available in case of someone having a real medical emergency.

The Danger of Facebook for Anxiety Disorder Sufferers

Just wow! I always figured that if you do too much of anything… well, it isn’t always good for your health and sanity…

And then I read this article that concludes if you spend way too much time on Facebook… or another social networking site… it can be “as alluring and destructive as a gambling addiction.” (their words, not mine).

Uncommon Phobias List (eleven to fifteen)

This is my third installment of the next five uncommon phobias… and like I said in the very first post… just because the phobia is uncommon doesn’t mean it is a punch line.

Sufferers of these rare and unusual phobias actually feel the terror and fears… so please don’t dismiss them.

I truly hope if you are suffering from any of these phobias… that you seek out help… real help because when you do… you are ON the road to recovery!

But I suggest that you start with your family doctor to rule out the more serious conditions that may have similar symptoms as panic attacks, anxiety disorders or phobias do.

Then you may want to check out the Panic Away program and find out when it is all about… and you can find out a little more about it on my home page.

Identifying Whether or Not You Have a Migraines Headaches

We all know that there are different types of headaches. But if you are experiencing a recurring painful headache that hurts so much, that it can debilitate you… well, you could be suffering from a migraines headaches.

Let me assure you that there are symptoms that are usually identified with migraines instead of another type of headache. My suggestion is to start keeping a notebook of your symptoms to track patterns and other clues that may be helpful to the diagnosis and relief from the headaches.

Now the first thing you should keep in mind that those who do suffer from migraines headaches, report a early warning sign that is called an “aura.” The best way to describe it would be to imagine that someone flashed a light bulb from a camera in your eyes and you see “spots.”

Like I said, many migraine sufferers report the aura at the beginning of their migraines. And that symptom can last for a few minutes to even an hour. It is hard to miss but you do have to look out for it. Don’t forget to write everything down in your notebook!

Another identifying trait of migraines headaches is the location of the pain. It is usually on one side of the head and can appear about thirty minutes after you see an “aura.”

October 10th is World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day was put aside to mobilize the international resources that is available to the world to help combat mental health disorders.

And not only that, I think it is a good idea to have a World Mental Health Day to increase awareness of the sufferers of anxiety disorders and panic attacks to seek help or those who know about someone that has symptoms and can encourage them to seek help.

In fact, the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon recently stated that this day was important because mental disorders is one of the biggest disability in developing countries than any other non-communicable diseases… and yet, only a very small minority of people from these countries ever get treatment.

Uncommon Phobias List (six to ten)

This is my second installment of the next five uncommon phobias… and like I said in the first post… just because the phobia is uncommon doesn’t mean it is a punch line.

Those who suffer from these phobias really feel the terror… it feels real enough to them and to me, laughing at the condition is just plain mean…

My hopes for listing these uncommon phobias is to urge the sufferers to seek help. Because the moment you DO start doing it… you are on the road to recovery.

I suggest that you check with your doctor first to make sure your symptoms isn’t being caused by more serious underlying conditions that “mimics” the symptoms of anxiety disorders or panic attacks.

Arachnophobia Sufferers Dread the Autumn…

It is that time of the year again when the spiders all come out and spin their webs to catch the insects.

I noticed that I was getting more spiders a couple of weeks ago in my backyard. I’m not certain why exactly the spiders seem to come out of the woodwork around autumn… especially when the summer was consistently warm with very few cold snaps.

But it does create a BIG problem for those who suffer from arachnophobia

Did you know that the fear of spiders is probably one of the most common phobias people have? It is true… and that fear of spiders can cause a debilitating anxiety attacks which can completely dominate the sufferer’s daily life.

Uncommon Phobias List (One to Five)

I decided to do a little research and discover the uncommon phobias and fears that people have and list them for my readers. As always, these fears and phobias are NOT a laughing matter… those who suffer from them feel they are real!

Granted, most fears and phobias are irrational… but you can’t just tell the sufferer to “get over it.” That won’t work for one thing… and the other… you will make the sufferer feel bad about themselves and be more reluctant to seek help.

And the very action of seeking help is a very good thing… it means that you are on your way to recovery. I remember reading somewhere that the average time it takes for someone to get over their fears, phobias, anxiety disorders and panic attacks can be over 10 years!!

And why? Well, they are afraid of being laughed at or dismissed as kooks or crazy. And this is so very NOT true! It is just tricks played by our minds and the sufferer is the ONLY person who can make them go away. And one of the best ways for someone to “retrain” their minds to stop the fears and phobias is by using the Panic Away system by Barry Joe McDonagh.
