Alleviate Anxiety So It Doesn't Run Your
Life
At some point in our daily lives... we could use the tools to alleviate anxiety. We
could find that our stress levels go way up due to a deadline at work. Or due to conflict with someone else. There
are so many different ways that stress and anxiety can rear up their ugly heads and totally ruin our day. But it
isn't just in your head. Our bodies are connected within itself and to your brain. And when you worry a lot... your
body starts to think that something bad or some dangerous threat is immenent and takes evasive actions.
And what kind of actions? Well, the symptoms for
anxiety attacks and panic attacks are wide and varied. It is different from person to person. And many
of the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks are similar to those of more serious health conditions. This is
exactly why I always recommend that you have your family doctor check you out to rule those serious medical
conditions out.
From that point on, you will probably know what you are suffering from... anxiety and panic attacks. And you
know something? There are literally 1000s and 1000s of regular and ordinary folks just like yourself that also
suffer from the very same mental conditions.
So know this... you are NOT alone!
Again, see your doctor first if you haven't yet. And yes, for some of you it is going to be hard because you are
afraid your doctor will dismiss or laugh at your concerns. I seriously doubt that will happen. But if it does,
change your doctor because he or she isn't looking out for your best interest and health.
Anxiety and panic attacks are real and is a serious problem that requires serious help to get you though it. And
the sooner you realize that you need some help, the sooner you can really get back to living a normal life free of
fear and walls.
But back to the symptoms of anxieties... it can be excessive sweating... to rapid breathing... to even a
pounding heart that feels like it will literally jump out of your chest. There are far too many numerous symptoms
to list here.
And what exactly is anxiety because it doesn't seem to be a useful condition to have. Well, our ancestors used
the adrednaline from anxious moments to escape from danger. Experts would call it the 'fight or flight'
response.
Either you are wired to fight off the danger that is facing you or you will run away as fast as you can from the
danger. But the moment of decision is NOW.
However, in this modern world... we are not going to meet lions or tigers any time soon. So that anxiety is more
likely to be a false signal based on phobias and other fears or situations that causes you a lot of anxiety.
The trick however is to find ways to alleviate the anxiety so that it won't get out of control and take over
your life. A lot of folks have been literally paralyzed by anxiety and never leave the house.
So if you can... try to figure out ways of alleviating the stress or anxiety from the start. The best way is to
give yourself a "time out" when you are facing a situation... event... or person that is really throwing your
stress levels off the charts.
So give yourself a break and walk away if you can. Another way is to figure out a way to change your response to
the stressor. Instead of reacting to the appearance of the stressor... give yourself a mental break and change your
thoughts.
I love to walk when I feel stressed. I will find a nice long walking path along the beach or a local park and
just focus on my breathing and steps. Everytime my thoughts tend to stray to my problems... I would reign them back
in and dismiss them. And continue to focus internally.
By the way, Yoga uses this philosophy too. It is another way to deal and
minimize stress.
The next thing I would have you do is to go through your entire daily routine. And try to find ways to make it
as simple as possible. You will be surprised how many things that you do to complicate your life is totally
unneccessary. Try to eliminate the complicated and frustrating things and slow things down.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the ways and things that you can do to alleviate anxiety. But starting now is much better than waiting for the
anxieties to build up.
I'm hoping you find a way to live the awesome life that you deserve to live,
Kate
